Dear Champagne Bollinger,
If I may, I think it worth mentioning that having lost so many of his friends in the terrible First World War, Capt Buckmaster was determined that by founding a club, those of his friends that survived, would have a place in which to 'reunite' so to speak. 'Buck's Fizz' was very much 'Buck's'idea, since he and his friends could ill afford to drink expensive champagne on its own as they had done before the war. By diluting it with fresh orange juice (It must always be freshly squeezed orange juice!)the Champagne went further, and a peculiarly English cocktail was created. My father, Ralph Harbord, gleaned all of these salient facts from Capt Buckmaster when the latter invited him to join his club some seventy years ago.
Yours Sincerely

As a Kiwi married to an Englishman living in England and not able to attend the world cup in New Zealand (sob, sob) we will be watching all the games on TV with extreme interest. Beer/wine & champers available for when the winning team is picked/played & won - just hope the final match will be between our favourites - All Blacks & England!!!! Lots of screams of joy and shouts at the ref & TV inbetween - hopefully not too many tears!! Can't wait for the start.

My first thought was, like so many others, Boris Johnson. But on reflection I think it is just a front and he's not truly a Bertie at all, and anyway he is too blond. No, for true Bertieness I would vote for James May. I think he has just the right degree of innocent bafflement.
